Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026. Draft prepared for review by counsel.
1. Who we are
PriorBeacon, PriorBeacon, 5101 Old Highway 5, Box 442, Lebanon, GA 30146, USA. Email: support@priorbeacon.com. We operate PriorBeacon, a US-only information service about public USPTO records.
2. The information we process, and where it comes from
People we email about our service (outreach recipients). Name, role, business email address, organisation, the public web page where the address was published, and our determination of whether the address is US-based. Sources: public web pages (company websites, law-firm attorney pages, press releases), professional directories, and — if we use them — licensed business-contact data vendors, which we will name here. We send to US-based business or professional addresses only, and we log the source and date for every address.
People named in reports (report subjects). Applicant, owner, inventor and attorney names, correspondence addresses and related bibliographic data, exactly as they appear in public USPTO records (application files, office actions, assignment records). We do not add third-party data about report subjects to reports. Where an applicant appears to be an unrepresented individual we omit the street line of the correspondence address from the report and link to the public record instead.
Customers. Name, email address, billing country and the last four digits and brand of your card as reported by Stripe (we never receive full card numbers), order history, the IP address and time of your acceptance of our Terms, and support correspondence.
Website visitors. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested, time). We do not use advertising cookies. Alert and report links contain a random token so that we can show you the right page; opening a link records that it was opened.
3. Why we process it
- To send commercial email about our service in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, and to honour opt-outs (we keep opted-out addresses indefinitely for that purpose only).
- To take payment, deliver reports, provide support and process refunds.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, keep records required by law, and defend legal claims.
4. Email practices
Every commercial email identifies us, carries our postal address and a one-click unsubscribe link, and states where we found your address. Opt-outs take effect immediately in our systems and in all cases within 10 business days. We never sell, rent or share email lists, including suppression lists, except with a service provider acting on our instructions to enforce suppression. We do not use tracking pixels in outreach email; link clicks are recorded.
5. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that process it for us — Stripe (payments), our email and hosting providers, and any contact-data vendor we name above — and when required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
6. Public records
Report contents are public USPTO records. We cannot alter USPTO records. If you are named in a report and have a concern, write to support@priorbeacon.com; we will explain the source and consider any reasonable request about how we present it.
7. Retention
Send logs, suppression records, data-provenance logs and order records: at least five years (suppression records indefinitely). Support correspondence: three years. Server logs: 90 days.
8. Security
HTTPS everywhere, access limited to the people who run the service, and hosting with reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure; tell us promptly if you believe your information has been compromised.
9. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or at /unsubscribe. Residents of any US state may ask us to access, correct or delete their personal information by emailing support@priorbeacon.com; we honour such requests voluntarily, whether or not a particular state law applies to us (we are far below the thresholds of the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws). We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect; we treat Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out request in any event.
10. Children
Our service is for businesses and professionals and is not directed to anyone under 18.
11. International
This is a US-only service. We do not knowingly send marketing to, or sell to, people outside the United States. If you are outside the US and hear from us, tell us and we will stop.
12. Changes
We will post changes here with a new effective date.
